LATE GOAL SINKS ANCHORMEN

 

Hoboken, NJFreshman midfielder Zach Adler (McKinney, TX) fired a free kick into the back right corner of the net to snap a scoreless deadlock and help the No.2-ranked Stevens Institute men's soccer team defeat Rhode Island College, 1-0, in the final game of the Stevens Classic on Sunday evening.

 

 

 

Despite being outshot, 25-5, the Anchormen (0-2-1) hung tough with the Ducks (3-0-0) until Adler's marker in the 84th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Hogan (North Providence, RI) made six saves, while his counterpart, junior Zach Carr (Carmel, IN), turned away one shot to earn his second shutout on the season.

 

 

 

Junior forward Josh Sousa (Cumberland, RI) led RIC with two shots.

 

 

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Lasell on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
