BATEK & LABARRE KEEP ANCHORWOMEN WOMEN'S TENNIS UNDEFEATED

 

Worcester, MAŚSophomore Gabriela Batek (Greenville, RI) and junior Brittany LaBarre (Greenville, RI) combined to win in doubles and won their respective singles matches to lead the Rhode Island College women's tennis team past Clark, 6-3, on Thursday afternoon.

 

 

 

The Anchorwomen remain undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record, while the Cougars drop to 1-5.

RIC opened up doubles play by taking two out of three from the hosts. Batek and LaBarre won (8-5) at No. 2, while freshmen Marissa Langellier (Greenville, RI) and Doris Belanger (West Warwick, RI) earned a 9-8 decision at the No. 3 spot.

 

 

 

Clark won the top two singles flights, but Batek (7-6 (8-6), 6-2), LaBarre (6-3, 6-4), Langellier (6-2, 6-4) and Belanger (6-1, 6-0) won from No. 2 through No. 6 to seal the victory.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open the Little East Conference schedule at home against Salem State on Saturday, Sept. 19.
