BOYER HELPS VOLLEYBALL TAKE
WPI TO THE BRINK

Worcester, MA—Freshman outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) racked up 19 kills and 13 digs, but it wasn't enough to help the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team overcome an early two-set disadvantage in a 3-2 loss to WPI.

The Anchorwomen (7-6), who were swept, 3-0, by WPI (11-1) 11 days ago at the Regis Invitational, fell behind with 25-10 and 25-23 losses in the first two sets. RIC battled back with a two-point, 28-26, win in the third stanza and a 25-21 victory in the fourth frame. The Engineers regained their composure and held off the visitors, 15-6, in the deciding set.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open the Little East Conference schedule at home against Eastern Connecticut and Plymouth State on Saturday, Sept. 19.
