OWLS KEEP ANCHORWOMEN WINLESS
IN LITTLE EAST ACTION

Keene, NH—Keene State scored 2:37 seconds into the game and never looked back en route to a 5-0 shutout over Rhode Island College in Little East Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex.

 

KSC raises its overall record to 9-2 and stays unbeaten in league action (3-0). The Anchorwomen, who suffered their third consecutive shutout, drop to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the LEC.

 

Rhode Island College junior goalkeeper Maddie Pirri (Bristol, RI) was peppered with shots all day and was forced to make a season-high 20 saves. She has been forced to make double-digit stops now in seven of the club’s eight games. Keene State held a 43-2 advantage in shots, while the Anchorwomen managed only one shot on goal.

The Owls had five different goal scorers in the win as senior midfielder Kendra Spencer (Petoskey, MI), sophomore midfielder Leah Teter (Granville, MA), junior forward Katie Bradford (Lebanon, NH), freshman back Mary Lake (Portsmouth, RI) and sophomore midfielder Britni Watkinson (Rochester, NH) all scored. Junior midfielder Nora Mahoney (Belchertown, MA) led KSC with five shots and contributed the squad’s lone assist.

 

The hosts used two goalkeepers as sophomore Megan Dempsey (East Weymouth, MA) made one save in 85:26 of action, before giving way to senior Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, MA) for the final minutes.

 

Rhode Island College has been held scoreless over the team’s last 277:38 of action.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference play at home against Plymouth State on Saturday, Oct. 10.
