THREE EARN ALL-LEAGUE HONORS AS MEN'S GOLF PLACES SECOND AT ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

North Dartmouth, MA—Juniors Derek Jensen (Cumberland, RI) and Bryan Picinisco (Dartmouth, MA) were named All-Little East/GNAC, while freshman Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, MA) was named the Rookie of the Year and to the All-Rookie Team, as the Rhode Island College men's golf team finished second at the Alliance Championships played at Allendale Country Club on Oct. 24-25.

 

 

 

The Anchormen equal the program's highest finish (2008) at the annual meet with a two-day total score of 648 (325, 323). Johnson & Wales won the meet, which secured the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Div. III National Championships in the spring.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Team Scores: Johnson & Wales 635 (315, 320); Rhode Island College 648 (325, 323); UMass Dartmouth 655 (328, 327); Southern Maine 694 (353, 341); St. Joseph’s (ME) 709 (350, 359); Suffolk 733 (362, 371); Emmanuel 743 (375, 368).

 

 

 

 Picinisco placed third overall (35 golfers) with a two-day total of 158 (78, 80), finishing 14 strokes over par.

 Junior Chad Lareau (North Attleboro, MA) tied for ninth at 165 (87, 78), finishing +21. Senior Barrett Kern (Pawtucket, RI) tied for 17th at 172 (87, 85), finishing +28.

 

 

 

The Anchormen are off for the remainder of the fall and will resume action in the spring.
