CAMELS SAIL PAST ANCHORWOMEN, 3-0

 

Providence, RIóConnecticut College spoiled Senior Night for the Rhode Island College womenís volleyball team as the Camels handed the hosts a 3-0 shutout loss at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening. RIC honored senior outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) and classmate middle blocker Kristen Johnson (East Providence, RI), who were playing in their final regular season home match, prior to the start.

Connecticut College (20-5) was down, 24-22, in the first set with RIC (17-16) serving for the win. The Camels forced a side out, then ran off three straight points to win, 26-24. The visitors handled the Anchorwomen easily in the second (25-16) and third sets (25-12) to notch their 20th win of the year.

The Camel trio of freshman right side hitter Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, CA), senior middle blocker Meg Christman (Wilmington, DE) and sophomore outside hitter Amy Newman (Los Angeles, CA) led the way offensively with seven kills apiece. Sophomore libero Ally Terlizzi (Mount Kisko, NY) posted a match-high 13 digs. Junior middle blocker Chelsea Manning (Cockeysville, MD) made four blocks, while junior setter Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, NJ) registered 28 assists.

 

 

 

Corriveau and junior Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) led RIC with six kills apiece. Freshman setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) posted seven assists and 11 digs.

 

 

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will close out the regular season along with UMass Boston at a Little East Conference tri-match, hosted by Western Connecticut, on Saturday, Oct. 31.
