ANCHORWOMEN DROP TWO AT
LITTLE EAST TRI-MATCH

 

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College lost two matches at a Little East Conference women’s volleyball tri-match, hosted by Western Connecticut on Saturday afternoon as the club closed out the regular season.

 

 

 

The Anchorwomen (17-18, 3-4 LEC) lost a tough match to the host Colonials (25-6, 5-1 LEC), 3-1 (22-25, 26-28, 25-20, 22-25). Freshman outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) paced the RIC attack with 17 kills, while freshman middle blocker Kalyn Archer (Warwick, RI) and junior outside hitter Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) chipped in with 12 winners apiece. Freshman setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) posted 24 assists, while Heidel led the team with 13 digs. Archer and Heidel each logged six blocks.

RIC was swept, 3-0 (8-25, 12-25, 11-25), by UMass Boston (26-4, 6-0 LEC) in its final match of the afternoon. Boyer had seven kills, freshman libero Tiara Bottachiari (Woonsocket, RI) posted five digs and Ho registered six assists.

 

 

 

In upcoming action, the fifth-seeded Anchorwomen will be on the road at fourth-seeded Keene State in first round action of the 2009 Little East Conference Women’s Volleyball Tournament, on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
