DiBLASI & NUNES LEAD RIC WOMEN’S TRACK AT WESTFIELD

Westfield, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s track & field team opened up the outdoor campaign with an eighth place (18 teams) finish at the Jerry Gravel Classic, hosted by Westfield State. The Anchorwomen totaled 39 points. Springfield won the meet with a score of 137.0.

 

 

 Junior Kayla DiBlasi

 

Junior Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed first in the 400m hurdles (1:09.04), while classmate Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed third in the 3,000m steeplechase with a new program-record time (14.25.05).

 

DiBlasi also finished third in the 100m hurdles (16.55). Senior Ashley Nyzio (Pawtucket, RI) placed fourth in the javelin (33.45m). Senior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) finished fourth in the triple jump (10.67m) and sixth in the 400m (1:03.36).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, April 3.
