LEVESQUE NAMED LITTLE EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, RI-Rhode Island College junior third baseman/designated hitter Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in a 2-1 week for the Anchormen.

 

 

 

Levesque helped RIC sweep Southern Maine in the LEC opener for both clubs on April 3. For the week, he batted .583 (7-for-12) with five extra base hits, which included three home runs, and seven RBI to register a 1.500 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage.  Levesque recorded multiple hits in all three games, including back-to-back 3-for-4 performances against the Huskies. In the nightcap of the Little East doubleheader, he belted a trio of home runs and drove in six RBI to lead the Anchormen to a come-from-behind, 13-11, victory.

 

For the season, he has played in 12 games, starting 11 of them. Levesque is batting .514 (19-for-37) with 14 runs scored, three doubles, six homers and 18 RBI.

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulak's team is currently 11-5 on the season. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Salve Regina on Wednesday, April 7.
