Milton, MA-Junior captain Nate Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) came back from a loss in his first set to win the next two, while senior Garrett Smith (Exeter, RI) picked up a straight set win, as the Rhode Island College menís tennis team defeated Curry, 5-4, on Thursday afternoon.

The duo also won in their respective dual matches to lead RIC (2-4) to its second win in the clubís last three matches. The loss dropped the Colonels (5-5) to .500.

 

 

 

 

 

 Senior No. 4 Singles Garrett Smith

 

 

 

Despite losing the first set (6-7), Rebello came back with consecutive wins (6-3, 6-3) at No. 2 singles. Smith dominated his opponent (6-0, 6-1), losing only one game, at No. 4 singles. Freshman Nate Lee (Bar Harbor, ME) also picked up a straight set (6-4, 6-0) win at No. 6 singles.

 

 

 

Rebello and junior Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI) earned an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, while Smith paired with Lee to win, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles.

 

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East Conference play at Salem State on Saturday, April 10.
