ANCHORMEN BLANK NIGHTHAWKS

Providence, RI-Rhode Island College swept all six singles and the three doubles matches to earn a decisive, 9-0, win over Newbury at the RIC Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.

The Anchormen (3-7) stop a three-match losing streak with the win, while the Nighthawks (0-9) are still searching for their first win.

 

RIC junior captain Nate Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) continued his strong play of late, earning a straight set (6-0, 6-0) win at No. 2 singles. Rebello did not lose a game all day as he paired with junior Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI) to shut out their opposition at No. 2 doubles (8-0).

 

 

 Freshman Tigran Gasparyan

 

Freshman Tigran Gasparyan (Smithfield, RI) earned a straight set (6-2, 6-1) win at No. 1 singles and paired with junior Matt Allard (Harrisville, RI) for an 8-2 win at the top doubles spot.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at Southern Maine on Tuesday, April 20.
