ANCHORWOMEN TIE FOR SEVENTH
AT SILFEN INVITATIONAL
DiBlasi Breaks 100m Hurdles Record

New London, Conn.-The Rhode Island College women's outdoor track and field team tied for seventh (12 teams) at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen totaled a score of 43.0, while Worcester State won the meet with a team point total of 158.0.

 

Junior Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed second in both the 100m (15.80) and the 400m (1:06.96) hurdles. Her time in the 100m hurdles is a new program record for that event. Senior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed fourth in the triple jump (10.41m), seventh in the 400m (1:03.40) and 14th in the 200m (28.68).

Junior Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) placed fourth in the 1,500m (5:12.58). Junior Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed fifth in the 100m hurdles (17.07). Senior Ashley Nyzio (Pawtucket, RI) placed seventh in the javelin (29.28m). Sophomore Brittany Richer (Woonsocket, RI) placed seventh in the 5,000m (20:53.80).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Little East/Alliance Championships, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, April 24.
