LEVESQUE NAMED LITTLE EAST
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Providence, RI-Rhode Island College junior Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance in two league starts.

He was 1-0 with a 0.00 earned run average in 18 innings of work. Levesque allowed two unearned runs on 16 hits, 15 of which were singles, while striking out 17 and yielding just two walks. On April 13, he limited UMass Dartmouth, the second-ranked offense in the conference circuit, to just one unearned run in nine innings before giving way to the bullpen in a 6-1 Anchormen extra-inning win. Five days later, he registered a season-high nine punchouts in a complete-game, 6-1, victory at Keene State. Levesque finished strong against the Owls, retiring 12 of the final 13 batters in a key Little East win.

For the season, he is 2-0 with a 0.36 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched. As a designated hitter, Levesque is batting .417 (30-for-72) with 20 runs scored, eight doubles, six homers and 24 RBI.

Head Coach Scott Virgulak’s team is currently 17-7 overall and 6-1 (first place) in the Little East.
