Gorham, ME-Trailing 2-1 after the doubles points, Rhode Island College Anchormen rallied to win four of six singles points to take a narrow, 5-4, win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference menís tennis match Tuesday afternoon in Gorham.

With the win, RIC improves to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the Little East.  Suffering their second straight loss in the conference, USM falls to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the LEC.


Junior Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI) earned a key 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over at third singles to help the Anchormen to victory. Aiello defeated USM junior Michael Sarrazin (Lewiston, ME) in a hard-fought match.   Freshman Nate Lee (Bar Harbor, ME) picked up a 7-6, 6-4 win at sixth singles over USM junior Zach Caron (North Conway, NH). Junior Nate Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) earned a straight set (6-0, 6-0) win at second singles.


USM junior Josh Warren (Hermon, ME) was a double-winner for the Huskies. Warrren defeated RIC freshman Tigran Gasparyan (Smithfield, RI) 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and teamed with Sarrazin for an 8-4 win at first doubles.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference play when it hosts UMass Boston on Saturday, April 24.
