Providence, RI-Freshman Shane Belanger (Caribou, ME) helped fifth-seeded Southern Maine defeat fourth-seeded Rhode Island College, 5-3, with a straight set win at No. 3 singles in quarterfinal action of the 2010 Little East Conference Menís Tennis Tournament at the RIC Tennis Courts.

The Huskies (6-9) advance to face top seed Western Connecticut in the semifinals on Friday, May 7 at noon. RIC (6-9) sees its season come to an end in the loss.

Rain and lightning delayed the match for almost two hours, causing doubles play to be suspended. When the two squads returned to the courts, the visitors took two of the three doubles matches.

USM senior Josh Warren (Hermon, ME) did not lose a game at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0) to increase the Huskiesí lead to 3-1, but RIC junior Nate Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) followed suit by doing the same in his No. 2 singles match.
