CARMON & MOHR LEAD MORAVIAN TO, 3-0,
WIN OVER NEUMANN IN NCAA ACTION

Providence, R.I.- Sophomore pitcher Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ) fired a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts, while freshman third baseman Shannen Mohrís (Slatington, PA) homered, as second-seeded Moravian College defeated fifth-seeded Neumann University, 3-0, in game two at the Providence Regional of the 2010 NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament hosted by Rhode Island College.

 

The Greyhounds (31-12) advance to face the winner of fourth-seeded Wesleyan University vs. third-seeded Kean University (2 p.m.) tomorrow at noon. The Knights (26-17) are forced to play an elimination game with sixth-seeded Baruch College today at 4 p.m.

 

Carmon raised her record to (22-9) and freshman first baseman Amanda Dizinno (Budd Lake, NJ) went 2-for-3 in the win.

 

Moravian took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as junior second baseman Stephanie Falzarano (South Plainfield, NJ) singled and scored on Mohrís homer (7) to left field.

 

Junior right fielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA) led off fifth with a triple to center field and scored on a Falzarano ground out for the contestís final fun.

 

Neumann junior starter Brittany Campbell (Levittown, PA) took the loss (11-6), allowing three earned runs on six hits to go along with two strikeouts. Freshman pinch hitter Callie Emelís (Salem, NJ) double in the seventh was the lone bright spot for the Knights.
