A five-run fifth inning was the main factor in the Anchormenís (21-18) demise. The Warriors (30-11) stay unbeaten, 2-0, in LEC tournament play with the win.

Junior left fielder Ronnie Bracchi (Wappinger Falls, NY) led RIC offensively, going 3-for-4 with one run scored and an RBI. Classmate designated hitter Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a double. Senior pitcher Paul Vatter (Warwick, RI) took the loss (2-3).

RIC took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a senior first baseman Tim Schabowski (Pascoag, RI) RBI single. The Warriors tied the game in the third, but RIC went ahead, 2-1, in the fourth on a freshman right fielder Kevin Carey (Wakefield, RI) RBI double.
