Levesque, Stone & Rossi
Named All-Little East Conference

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI), senior Jared Rossi (Johnston, RI) and sophomore J.P. Stone (Narragansett, RI) were named All-Little East Conference for their performance in baseball this past season.

 

 

 Junior pitcher Gary Levesque

 

Levesque was named First Team All-Little East as a pitcher. The team MVP appeared in eight games, starting seven of them. Levesque was 3-3 with one save, a 3.46 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 52.0 innings pitched. Playing primarily as a designated hitter, he played in 35 games, starting 34 of them. Levesque batted .377 with 32 runs scored, 52 hits, 17 doubles, seven home runs, 38 RBI and one stolen base. He owned a .652 slugging percentage, a .409 on-base percentage and a .889 fielding percentage. Levesque also saw time at third base. He was named the Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week three times this spring.

 

 

 Senior center fielder Jared Rossi

 

Rossi was named Second Team All-Little East as an outfielder. He played in 38 games, starting all of them. Rossi batted .338 with 38 runs scored, 48 hits, nine doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 35 RBI and 11 stolen bases. He owned a .592 slugging percentage, a .458 on-base percentage and a .989 fielding percentage.

 

 

 Sophomore third baseman J.P. Stone

 

Stone was named Second Team All-Little East as a third baseman. He played in 34 games, starting 33 of them. Stone batted .385 with 32 runs scored, 50 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, one home run, 25 RBI and three stolen bases. Stone owned a .531 slugging percentage, a .450 on-base percentage and a .881 fielding percentage.

 

First-year Head Coach Scott Virgulak’s team finished the 2010 season with a 21-18 overall record and was 8-6 (third place tie) in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen recorded their fourth consecutive 20-win season.
