DRAPPI STAYS UNBEATEN AND CLAIMS 133 LBS. CROWN AS ANCHORMEN PLACE
FIFTH AT
DOUG PARKER INVITATIONAL

Springfield, MA—Junior
Travis Drappi (West Orange, NJ)
improved to 9-0 and won the 133
lbs. weight class, while and four additional Anchormen wrestlers placed, as Rhode Island
College took fifth (18 teams) overall at the Doug Parker
Invitational, hosted by Springfield on Saturday afternoon. |

Williams (136), Brockport (135),
Wesleyan (124.5) and Springfield (119) finished ahead of RIC (111.5)
in the 18-team field. |

Junior 133
lbs. Travis Drappi |
|
|
|
Drappi went 5-0, defeating
Wesleyan's Kaison Tanabe, 5-2, in the championship match. |
|
|
|
Sophomore Brandon
Gauthier (Lowell, MA) took second at 125 lbs., going 3-1. He won
three straight bouts before falling to Wesleyan's Dan Bloom
(WBF 3:59) in the title match. |

|
|
Senior Joe Manley (Wayland, MA) placed second at 174 lbs.,
going 3-1 on the day. He won his first three contests before falling
to Wesleyan's Greg Hurd (3-1) in the championship match. |

|
|
After
a surprise loss in his first match, junior
Kevin Sutherland (Dauphin, PA)
did
not lose the rest of the day, winning seven straight to place third
at 149 lbs. He raised his overall record to 11-1 on the year. |

|
Sophomore Mike Trasso
(Lyndhurst, NJ) went 5-2 to place fourth at 141 lbs. |
|
|
|
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will see its first
dual action of the season when it hosts New England Wrestling
Association (NEWA) rival Plymouth State on Wednesday, December 2. |
