HARRELL SETS RECORD AS RIC MEN'S TRACK COMPETES AT HARVARD INVITATIONAL

 

Cambridge, MAFreshman Mike Harrell (Reston, VA) established a new program record in the 60m hurdles as the Rhode Island College men's indoor track and field team saw action at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

He placed eighth in the finals with a time of 8.72 to establish the new mark. Harrell also teamed with freshmen George N'Tow (Providence, RI), Kevin Carey (Wakefield, RI) and Austin Pena (West Warwick, RI) to establish a new RIC record in the 4x440-yard relay, placing 7th with a new top time of 3:32.50. He rounded out a successful first collegiate meet with an 11th place (1.85m) effort in the high jump.

 

 

 

In other action, Carey placed ninth in the 800m (2:00.97). Freshman Matt Macedo (North Scituate, RI) placed 16th in the 3,000m (9:10.42). N'Tow placed 17th in the preliminaries of the 60m (7.30).

 

 

Rhode Island College is off for finals and Christmas. The Anchormen will resume action on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Yale Invitational.
