ANCHORMEN TAKE DOWN
BUENA VISTA, 31-18 & LEAD
AT CITRUS INVITATIONAL

Fort Lauderdale, FLJunior Chris Dean (Copiague, NY) clinched Rhode Island College's first dual match of the Citrus Invitational/Duals with a 31-18 win over Iowa Conference opponent Buena Vista.

 

 Dean recorded a pin at 184 lbs. at the 3:07 mark vs. Shea Klooster. Also recording pins were Anchorman sophomores Michael Trasso (Lyndhurst, NJ) and Scott Legacy (Bennington, VT) at 141 and 157 lbs., respectively.

Juniors Travis Drappi (West Orange, NJ) and Kevin Sutherland (Dauphin, PA), both of whom are nationally-ranked, each scored technical fall wins at 133 and 149 lbs. Senior Joe Manley (Wayland, MA) squeaked out a close one at 174 lbs., while sophomore Brandon Gauthier (Lowell, MA) lost to nationally-ranked Austin Mogg (8th, NCAA) at 125 lbs.

 

 Rhode Island College leads the team race in the invitational portion of the tournament with 93.5 points and nine semi-finalists out of 10 weight classes. Mount Union (OH) has an equal number of competitors in the semis and is only five points behind. Oneonta State (NY) is in third place in the 11-team field. RIC will get back to action tomorrow morning.
