GRIMES NAMED LITTLE EAST
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, RI-Rhode Island College senior guard Jake Grimes (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

 

 

 

Grimes led the Anchormen to a 2-0 mark this past week, averaging 25 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks. On Jan. 6, Grimes netted 27 points, on 10-for-18 shooting from the field, while pulling in five rebounds, to lift the Anchormen to a road victory, 63-56, at Becker College. Three days later, he registered 23 points, six boards and six assists in an 80-75 overtime victory at Little East rival Keene State. For the week, Grimes connected on 58 percent (19-for-33) of his attempts from the floor and 82 percent (9-for-11) from the charity stripe.

 

For the season, he has played in 12 games, starting eight of them. He is averaging 12.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

 

Head Coach Bob Walsh’s team is 8-4 overall and 3-0 (first place) in the Little East. In upcoming action, RIC will host Southern Maine on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
