ANCHORWOMEN RAISE OVERALL SCORE, BUT FALL, 177.800-169.350, TO DIV. II WEST CHESTER

 

Providence, RI—The Rhode Island College women’s gymnastics team bettered their output by 4.50 points from last Sunday’s meet, but was unable to defeat Div. II West Chester University as the Anchorwomen lost, 177.800-169.350, on Friday evening at The Murray Center.

Of the 24 scores Rhode Island College (0-2) registered on the night, 15 of them were high-marks for the gymnasts, including all six floor scores. West Chester (1-0), had five different gymnasts post the top score on each respective event.

 

 

 

Junior Alison Mitrosky (Jackson, NJ) and senior Felicia Massaro (East Brunswick, NJ) led on vault (9.275). Sophomore Alli Aquilla (Sinking Spring, PA) was tops on bars (8.900). Freshman Kaley LaFleur (Seminole, FL) led on beam (9.500) and freshman Rachel Pearson (Birdsboro, PA) registered the best floor mark (9.400).

 

 

LaFleur (36.100) and Aquilla (36.000) were first and second, respectively, in the all-around.

 

RIC sophomore Courtney Winsor (West Greenwich, RI) recorded season-high marks on vault (9.150), bars (8.150) and floor (8.600), while equaling her best performance on beam (8.050).

 

Winsor tied with two Golden Rams for the third-highest score on vault. Senior Kelly Longo (Pembroke, MA) was third on beam (8.850). Sophomore Jessica Greenwald (Union, NJ) was third on both floor (9.225) and in the all-around (33.975).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to ECAC Div. III rival Ithaca on Saturday, Jan. 23.
