2009-10 Rhode Island College
Menís Indoor Track & Field Season Summary

 

Providence, RIóHead Coach Kevin Jacksonís team wrapped up the 2009-10 menís indoor track and field season with four competitors seeing action at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships, hosted by Smith on March 5-6. RIC did not score as a team.

 

The Anchormen did not score at the 2010 N.E. Open Championships, hosted by Boston University, on Feb. 26-27.

 

Rhode Island College finished tied for 21st overall (22 teams) with a score of 1.0 at the N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by Bates on Feb. 20. The 4x400m relay team earned All-New England Honors with an eighth place finish.

 

The Anchormen placed ninth overall (11 teams) with 20.0 points and fifth (six teams) in the Little East Conference with 28.0 points at the 2010 Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Feb. 13.

 

 

 

Senior Kyle Duguay (Cumberland, RI) tied for 13th in the preliminaries of the 55m with a season-best time (6.79) and 20th in the 200m (23.80) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He placed 67th in the 200m with a season-best time (23.64) and 15th as part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.76) at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Duguay placed 10th in the preliminaries of the 55m (6.87), ninth in the 200m (24.28) and helped establish a new RIC record as part of the 4x200m relay (1:36.01) with a third place finish at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed fourth in the 55m (6.96), second in the 200m (24.26) and second as a part of the 4x400 relay (3:42.71) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Harvard Open on Dec. 12, Duguay placed 32nd in the preliminaries of the 60m with a season-best time (7.42) and 41st in the 200m (23.66). He placed 14th in the preliminaries of the 55m (6.88), 10th in the 200m (23.98), fourth as part of the 4x200m relay with a season-best time (1:39.05) and fourth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:36.06) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

He has one more season of indoor eligibility remaining and will compete for the Anchormen in 2010-11.

 

Junior Chris Allegretta (Warwick, RI) placed 36th in the 3,000m with a season-best time of 11.07.61 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He placed 25th in the 5,000m (19:14.18) at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed sixth in the 3,000m (11:10.50) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Harvard Open on December 12, Allegretta placed 34th in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 18:08.69.

 

Junior Mike Macedo (North Scituate, RI) placed 20th in the 3,000m (9:23.25) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He placed 92nd in the 3,000m (9:24.52) at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Macedo placed 10th in the 5,000m (16:05.96) at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed first in the 3,000m (9:39.20) and 10th in the 1,000m with a season-best time of 2:55.63 at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Macedo placed 29th in the mile with a season-best time of 4:57.51. Macedo placed 25th in the 3,000m with a season-best time of 9:19.85 at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He placed fifth in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 16.01.89 at the Springfield Invitational on Dec 5.

 

Sophomore Ethan Leary (Newport, RI) placed 24th in the 800m (2:15.59) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He placed 21st in the mile with a season-best time of 5:03.07 at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Harvard Open on Dec. 12, Leary placed 39th in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:08.97.

 

Sophomore Kyle Mann (West Warwick, RI) placed 19th in the 3,000m with a season-best time of 9:22.65 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Mann placed second in the 3,000m (9:50.50), second as a part of the 4x800m relay with a season-best time of 8:47.94 and 15th in the 1,000m with a season-best time of 3.00.46 at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Mann placed 30th in the mile with a season-best time of 5:02.79. Mann placed 33rd in the 3,000m (9:31.01) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He placed ninth in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 16.24.65 at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Jeremiah Bradley (Washington, DC) placed 54th in the 200m (29.12) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He finished 127th in the 200m with a season-best time of 28.66 at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. At the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5, Bradley placed 31st in the preliminaries of the 55m with a season-best time of 7.52 and 27th in the 200m (29.55).

 

Freshman Conor Breagy (Exeter, RI) finished 45th in the 1,000m with a season-best time of 2:46.78 at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Breagy placed 31st in the mile with a season-best time of 4:56.71 at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed 32nd in the mile (5:05.14) at the Yale Classic on Jan. 9. At the Harvard Open on Dec. 12, Breagy finished 50th in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:14.75. He finished 15th in the 1,000m (2:57.13) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Kevin Carey (Wakefield, RI) placed ninth as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.83) at the ECAC Championships on March 6. Carey placed 17th as part of the 4x400m relay with a new program record and season-best time of 3:24.06 at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27. He earned All-New England honors by placing eighth as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:30.31) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 20. Carey also placed 16th in the 600m (1:27.11). Carey placed 10th in the high jump (1.76m), fourth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:31.58) and sixth as part of the 4x800m relay with a season-best time of 8:30.78 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Carey placed 16th in the high jump with a season-high effort of 1.78m and 15th in the 500m with a season-best time of 1:07.41 at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Carey placed 11th in the high jump (1.73m) and 13th in the 400m with a season-best time of 53.67 at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed first in the 600m (1:26.62), second as part of the 4x400m relay (3:42.71) and third in the high jump (1.76m) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Carey placed 45th in the 400m (53.96) and 11th as part of the 4x800m relay (8:31.74). Carey finished ninth in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:00.97 and helped establish a new RIC record as part of the 4x440-yd relay (3:32.50) with a seventh place finish at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He finished first in the 600m with a season-best time of 1:24.88 and third in the high jump (1.76m) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5. He was named LEC Rookie Track Athlete of the Week once during the season.

 

Freshman Sean Ceccofiglio (Woonsocket, RI) placed 15th in the preliminaries of the 55m hurdles (8.85) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He finished 12th in the 55m hurdles with a season-best time of 8.69 and sixth in the 200m with a season-best time of 24.17 at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed second in the 55m hurdles with a season-best time of 8.69 at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Ceccofiglio finished 21st in the 60m hurdles (9.74). Ceccofiglio finished 80th in the 200m (24.81) and 32nd in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (9.59) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He placed eighth in the 55m hurdles (8.91) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Michael Cole (Newport, RI) placed 23rd in the 200m (24.10) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Cole finished 37th in the 55m (7.08), 53rd in the 200m with a season-best time of 23.28 and 15th as part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.76) at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Cole finished 21st in the 55m (7.09), eighth in the 200m (24.27) and helped establish a new RIC record as part of the 4x200m relay (1:36.01) with a third place finish at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed sixth in the 200m (24.97) and eighth in the 55m (7.28) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Cole finished 37th in the 60m (7.58) and 21st as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:48.35). Cole placed 40th in the preliminaries of the 60m with a season-best time of 7.48 and 42nd in the 200m (23.67) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He placed 17th in the preliminaries of the 55m with a season-best time of 6.98, 13th in the 200m (24:18), fourth as a part of the 4x200 relay (1:39.05) and fourth as a part of the 4x400 relay(3:36.06) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Stanley Jones (Washington, D.C) placed 38th in the 200m (25.03) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He finished 40th in the preliminaries of the 55m (7.23) and also finished 91st in the 200m with a season-best time of 24.74 at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Jones placed 26th in the preliminaries of the 55m (7.29) and 20th in the 200m (25.60) at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed 10th in the preliminaries of the 55m (7.23) and 10th in the 200m (25.63) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Jones placed 48th in the preliminaries of the 60m with a season-best time of 7.96. Jones placed 61st in the preliminaries of the 60m (7.69) and 95th in the 200m (25.43) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He placed 26th in the preliminaries of the 55m with a season-best time of 7.22, 25th in the 200m (26.24) and fourth as a part of the 4x200m relay with a season-best time of 1:39.05 at the Springfield College Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Matt Macedo (North Scituate, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors by placing third in the 800m (2:01.37) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Macedo placed 40th in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:59.26 at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Macedo placed 14th in the 800m (2:01.82) at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed sixth in the mile (4:36.65) and second as part of the 4x800m relay (8:47.94) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Macedo placed 26th in the 800m (2:08.27) and 11th as a part of the 4x800m relay with a season-best time of 8:31.74. Macedo placed 16th in the 3,000m with a season-best time of 9:10.42 at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He placed fourth in the one mile run with a season-best time of 4:34.77 at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) placed sixth in the 4x800m relay with a season-best time of 8:30.78 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He finished 22nd in the mile with a season-best time of 4:44.61 at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed second as part of the 4x800m (8:47.94), fourth in the 1,000m (2:49.53) and 10th in the mile (4:45.90) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Harvard Open on Dec. 12, McCloskey placed 24th in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:04.10. He placed fourth in the 1,000m with a season-best time of 2:40.63 at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Richard McPhillips (Central Falls, RI) finished 33rd in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 17:55.40 at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. At the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5, McPhillips placed 20th in the mile with a season-best time of 5:21.49.

 

Freshman George NíTow (Providence, RI) placed ninth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.83) at the ECAC Championships on March 6. NíTow placed 17th as part of the 4x400m relay with a new program record and season-best time of 3:24.06 at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27. He earned All-New England honors by placing eighth as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:30.31) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 20. NíTow also placed ninth in the 400m (51.70). He earned N.E. Alliance honors by placing third in the 400m (51.34) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He also placed fourth in the 4x400m relay (3:31.58). NíTow finished 48th in the 400m with a season-best time of 50.80 and also finished 15th in the 4x400m relay (3:26.76) at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. NíTow placed ninth in the 400m (52.33) and helped establish a new RIC record as part of the 4x200m relay (1:36.01) with a third place finish at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed second in the 400m (53.51) and second as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:42.71) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, NíTow placed 21st as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:48.35). NíTow placed 17th in the preliminaries of the 60m with a season-best time of 7.30  and helped establish a new RIC record as part of the 4x440-yd relay (3:32.50) with a seventh place mark at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He placed 10th in the preliminaries of the 55m with a season-best time of 6.83, 19th in the 400m (1:00.72), fourth as a part of the 4x200m (1:39.05) and fourth as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:36.06) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5. He was named the teamís MVP.

 

Freshman Austin Pena (West Warwick, RI) placed ninth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.83) at the ECAC Championships on March 6. Pena placed 17th as part of the 4x400m relay with a new program record and season-best time of 3:24.06 at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27.He earned All-New England honors by placing eighth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:30.31) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 20. He placed sixth as part of the 4x800m relay with a season-best time of 8:30.78, fourth in the 4x400m relay (3:31.58), and 16th in the 800m (2:06.03) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Pena placed 70th in the 800m (2:06.49) at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Pena placed 27th in the mile with a season-best time of 4:50.86 at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed first in the 800m (2:05.28) and second as part of the 4x400m relay (3:42.71) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Pena placed 37th in the 400m with a season-best time of 53.19 and 11th as a part of the 4x800m relay (8:31.74). Pena placed 32nd in the 800m (2:05.27) and helped establish a new RIC record as part of the 4x440-yd relay (3:32.50) with a seventh place finish at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He finished fourth in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:03.65 and fourth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:36.06) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed ninth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.83) at the ECAC Championships on March 6. Stadnick placed 17th as part of the 4x400m relay with a  new program record and season-best time of 3:24.06 at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27. He earned All-New England honors by placing eighth as part of the 4x400m relay (3:30.31) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 20. Stadnick also placed 13th in the 800m (2:01.40). He placed sixth in the 4x800m relay with a season-best time of 8:30.78, fourth in the 4x400m relay (3:31.58), and ninth in the 800m (2:02.79) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. He placed 42nd in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:59.50 at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Stadnick placed 13th in the 800m (2:01.72) at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed fourth in the 600m (1:28.86) and second as part of the 4x800m relay (8:47.94) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Stadnick placed 15th in the 800m (2:04.80) and 11th as a part of the 4x800m relay (8:31.74). Stadnick finished 34th in the 800m (2:05.74) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. He finished 8th in the 600m with a season-best time of 1:28.71 at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Aloysius Togbah (Providence, RI) placed 26th in the 200m with a season-best time of 24.34 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Togbah finished 38th in the preliminaries of the 55m (7.08), 86th in the 200m (24.36) and 15th as part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.76) at the Boston University Invitational on Jan. 29. Togbah finished 14th in the 55m (7.01), 11th in the 200m (24.50) and helped establish a new RIC record as part of the 4x200m relay (1:36.01) with a third place finish at the Wheaton Invitational on Jan. 23. He placed fifth in the 55m with a season-best time of 6.99 and seventh in the 200m (25.10) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. At the Yale Classic on Jan. 9, Togbah finished 26th in the 60m with a season-best time of 7.45 and 21st as part of the 4x400 relay (3:48.35). He placed 39th in the preliminaries of the 60m (7.47) and 81st in the 200m (24.86) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 12. Togbah finished 20th in the preliminaries of the 55m (7.10) and 17th in the 200m (25.10) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.
