ANCHORWOMEN END BRANDEIS INVITATIONAL WITH WIN OVER GORDON

Waltham, MA-Sophomore middle blocker Kalyn Archer (Warwick, RI) registered 11 kills and six blocks as the Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team wrapped up competition at the Brandeis Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Gordon College.

The Anchorwomen (5-6) went 1-3 over the two-day tourney.

 

Little East Conference rival UMass Boston (6-0) swept RIC last night, 3-0 (8-25, 19-25, 9-25) to open the Anchorwomen’s tournament. Sophomore outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) had nine kills in the loss.

 

Williams (1-0) opened its season with a 3-0 win (13-25, 12-25, 14-25) over RIC in the nightcap. Boyer led the club once again with six winners.

 

RIC started off today’s action with another shutout loss (17-25, 17-25, 7-25) to Babson (3-4) as Boyer notched 10 kills.

 

The Anchorwomen salvaged a win vs. Gordon, 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15) behind Archer’s effort and another 10 winners by Boyer. Sophomore setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) had 35 assists in the victory.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Western New England College on Wednesday, Sept. 15.
