POST & HOYNACK KEEP COLONIALS UNBEATEN

Providence, RI-Seniors Lauren Post (Danbury, CT) and Alyssa Hoynack (Old Lyme, CT) teamed for a win at No. 1 doubles, while winning their respective singles matches at the top of the lineup, to lead Western Connecticut to an 8-1 win over host Rhode Island College at the RIC Tennis Courts.

 

The Colonials improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Little East Conference, while the Anchorwomen fall to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in league competition.

 

Post and Hoynack earned an 8-2 decision in doubles before embarking on singles action. Post picked up a straight set (6-0, 6-3) victory at No. 1 singles with Hoynack doing the same (6-3, 6-1) a rung below.

 

The visitors won all six singles matches in straight-set fashion.

RIC junior Suzanne Healy Wurzburg (Uxbridge, MA) and freshman Kassandra Lima (Coventry, RI) staved off the sweep with a 9-8 (7-4) win at No. 3 doubles.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue the Little East circuit at Southern Maine on Saturday, Sept. 25. WestConn will host New Paltz on Thursday, Sept. 23.
