ANCHORWOMEN SPLIT AT WESTFIELD STATE TRI-MATCH

Westfield, MA-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team split a tri-match hosted by Westfield State on Saturday afternoon, downing Clark, 3-1, and falling, 3-0, to the hosts.

 

The Anchorwomen (9-11) began the day dropping the first set to the Cougars (4-8), but bounced back to win the next three (18-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23) in a closely contested match.

Sophomore outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) led three Anchorwomen in double digits with a 17-kill effort to go along with a team-high eight digs. Sophomore middle blocker Kalyn Archer (Warwick, RI) posted 11 kills and seven blocks. Freshman outside hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) chipped in with 15 kills and five digs. Senior middle blocker Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) contributed nine kills, seven digs, and five blocks, while sophomore setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) handed out 44 assists.

 

Westfield State (10-8) defeated RIC (25-16, 26-24, 25-20) for the second time this fall. Boyer and Cabral each had six kills.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference play at UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
