MEN’S BASKETBALL PICKED NO. 11 IN
DIII NEWS TOP 25 PRESEASON POLL

Providence, R.I.—The Rhode Island College men’s basketball team has been picked No. 11 in the nation in DIII News’ Top 25 preseason poll. The Anchormen are coming off their third Little East Conference Tournament Championship in four years and have been an NCAA Tournament squad the past four campaigns.

It’s very cool to be recognized as a nationally-ranked program,” Head Coach Bob Walsh said. “It says a lot about the talent and dedication of everyone involved with Rhode Island College basketball. But, ultimately, it’s not significant once the ball goes up - it is our performance on the court that counts.”

The Anchormen are coming off a 22-8 season, which saw RIC go 12-2 and capture the Little East Conference Regular Season Championship for the fourth time in six years. After winning the league tourney, RIC advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

The club returns 10 players, who all played significant minutes, while only losing one starter. Senior All-Little East guard Antone Gray (Providence, RI) and junior All-LEC forward Mason Choice (Newport, RI) are considered to be some of the best players at their respective positions in the league.
