RIC FINISHES FOURTH AT RHODY
FOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Providence, RI-Rhode Island College finished in fourth place at the Rhody Four Championship hosted by Johnson & Wales on Sunday afternoon. RIC lost in the semifinals to Roger Williams, 3-0, and a hard-fought match to Salve Regina, 3-2, in the third place contest. RIC fall to 9-14 on the season.

 

The 20-3 Hawks (20-3) easily dispatched the Anchorwomen with a shutout (25-9, 25-15, 25-13) in the semis. Sophomore outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) had seven kills and 10 digs, while classmate setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) posted 14 assists and three digs. For RWU, Rebekah Dion recorded 16 kills, and four blocks and Emily Lebowitz handed out 36 set assists

 

RIC was down 2-0 (22-25, 18-25, 25-12, 25-21, 5-15 ) to the Seahawks (7-12), battled back to tie the contest, but was closed out in the final set.  Boyer had 13 kills and 12 digs. Ho dished out 36 assists. For SRU, Claire Adams led the way with a match-high 15 kills.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference competition when the Anchorwomen host Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
