CORSAIRS SWEEP ANCHORWOMEN TO
WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON

Providence, RI-UMass Dartmouth wrapped up its regular season by winning its seventh consecutive match in a 9-0 victory over Rhode Island College in Little East Conference women’s tennis action.  

 

Prior to today’s action, the Corsairs (11-1, 7-1) had already secured the league’s regular season championship and will be the top seed throughout the upcoming Little East Tournament, which starts on Tuesday, Oct. 19. The Anchorwomen (0-15, 0-8) end their season.

 

UMass Dartmouth began the day by taking all three doubles matches and then went on to win all six singles flights in straight sets. Senior Amy Lopes (Dartmouth, MA) earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles and paired with classmate Amber Ubertini (Dalton, MA) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Ubertini had an impressive singles win herself at the fifth spot, not losing a game (6-0, 6-0). 

 

Freshman Nicole Pelletier (Swansea, MA) won (6-2, 6-0) at No. 2 singles and then at No. 2 doubles (8-1) along with classmate Elizabeth Cignoli (Springfield, MA).
