2010 Rhode Island College Womenís Cross Country
Season Summary

Providence, RIóHead Coach Kevin Jacksonís team closed out the season at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. The Anchorwomen placed 30th (51 teams) with a score of 918.

 

RIC placed 15th (39 teams) at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships with a score of 465 on Nov. 6.

 

The Anchorwomen placed eighth (13 teams) overall and fifth (five teams) in the Little East at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 30 with team scores of 178 and 107, respectively.

 

 

 

Senior Lindsey Brisson (Coventry, RI) missed the season while recovering from off-season knee surgery.

 

Senior Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) placed 90th with a time of 24:52.3 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. Desrosiers placed 26th with a time of 23:52.12 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 6. She earned N.E. All-Alliance honors by placing 10th with a time of 20:15.20 at the N.E. Alliance Championship on Oct. 30. Desrosiers placed first with a time of 20:27 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 25th with a time of 19:56.18 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed ninth with a season-best time of 19:41 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Desrosiers placed 60th with a time of 21:36 at Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25. She placed 69th with a time of 20:00 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18. She was named the Little East Runner of the Week once on the season.

 

As a junior in 2009, Desrosiers was RICís top runner, placing 102nd with a time of 24:30.80, at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 14. She was RICís top runner, placing 36th with a time of 25:25.80 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 7. Desrosiers earned N.E. All-Alliance honors and was RICís top runner, placing 18th with a time of 20:52.00, at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 31. She placed third with a time of 22:19.00 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Desrosiers was RICís top runner, placing 17th with a time of 20:28.62, at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 10. She was RICís top runner, placing 23rd with a season-best time of 20:18.00, at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 3. Desrosiers was RICís top runner, placing 66th with a time of 20:49.00, at the Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 26. She was RICís top runner, placing 132nd with a season-best time of 20:56.00, at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 19.

 

As a sophomore in 2008, Desrosiers placed 249th with a time of 29:12.2 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 15. She placed 145th with a time of 27:26 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Desrosiers placed 30th with a season-best time of 21:17.84 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. She placed 24th with a time of 22:32.00 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. Desrosiers placed fifth with a time of 22:45.76 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. She placed 186th with a time of 21:39 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

As a freshman in 2007, Desrosiers was RICís top runner, placing 175th with a time of 25:33 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 10. She was RICís top runner, placing 89th with a time of 25:59, at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 3. Desrosiers placed 41st with a season-best time of 21:25 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 27. She placed seventh with a time of 22:37 (shortened course) at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 13. Desrosiers placed 19th with a time of 22:33 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 6. She placed 21st with a time of 23:08 at the Tri State Invitational on Sept. 29. Desrosiers was RICís top finisher, placing 16th with a time of 22:21, at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 22. She was RIC's top finisher, placing 57th with a time of 21:54, at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 15.

 

She is an elementary education major with a concentration in math and a 2007 graduate of Veterans High School.

 

Senior Kaitlin Geagan (Mansfield, MA) finished 239th with a time of 27:38.5 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. Geagan placed 141st with a time of 26:44.75  at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 6. She finished 51st with a time of 22:01.90 at the N.E. Alliance Championship on Oct. 30. Geagan finished in ninth place with a time of 22:54 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 121st with a time of 21:57.99 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed 77th with a season-best time of 21:28 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Geagan placed 174th with a time of 24:45 Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25. She placed 207th with a time of 22:20 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18.

 

She is a biology major with a concentration in chemistry and a 2006 graduate of Mansfield High School.

 

Senior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) joined the team after a distinguished track & field career that wrapped up in 2009-10. She placed in 240th with a time of 27:38.5 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. Iby placed 127th with a time of 26:32.75 at N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 30. Iby placed eighth with a time of 22:45 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 60th with a season-best time of 20:48.56 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed 60th with a time of 21:06 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Iby placed 167th with a time of 21:17 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18.

 

She is a psychology major and a 2006 graduate of Dracut High School.

 

Senior Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed 225th with a time of 27:14.0 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. Nunes placed 129th with a time of 26:34.39 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 6. She placed 56th with a time of 22:13.60 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 30. Nunes placed 11th with a time of 23:09 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 107th with a time of 21:42.71 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed 106th with a time of 22:14 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Nunes placed 130th with a time of 23:28 Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25. She placed 212th with a time of 22:28 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18.

 

As a junior in 2009, Nunes placed 217th with a time of 26:43.70 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 14. She placed 118th with a time of 27:06.60 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 7. Nunes placed 44th with a time of 22:03.00 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 31. She placed sixth with a time of 23:15.00 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Nunes placed 62nd with a season-best time of 21:56.79 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 10. She placed 122nd with a time of 22:24.90 at the Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 26. Nunes placed 227th with a time of 22:30.00 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 19.

 

She is an early childhood education major with a concentration in English and a 2007 graduate of Lincoln High School.

 

Senior Nicole Poirier (Concord, NH) placed 232nd with a time of 27:21.1 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. Poirier placed 199th with a time of 28:02.79 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 6. She placed 84th with a time of 23:16.90 at the N.E. Alliance Championship on Oct. 30. Poirier placed 12th with a time of 23:33 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 146th with a time of 23:06 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Poirier placed 179th with a time of 25:02 at the Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25. She placed 219th with a season-best time of 22:48 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18.

 

As a junior in 2009, she placed 259th with a time of 27:37.10 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 14. She placed 161st with a time of 27:57.50 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 7. Poirier placed 53rd with a time of 22:28.00 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 31. She placed eighth with a time of 23:29.00 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Poirier placed 106th with a time of 23:01.03 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 10. She placed 109th with a season-best time of 22:27.00 at the POP Crowell Invitational on Oct. 3. Poirier placed 149th with a time of 23:01.80 at the Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 26. She placed 252nd with a time of 23:18.00 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 19.

 

As a sophomore in 2008, Poirier placed 221st with a time of 28:11.9 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 15. She placed 170th with a time of 27:52 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Poirier placed 53rd with a season-best time of 22:16.49 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. She placed 47th with a time of 23:15.63 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. Poirier placed 35th with a time of 23:24.23 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. She placed ninth with a time of 22:53 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

As a freshman in 2007, she placed 226th with a time of 26:44 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 10. She placed 184th with a time of 28:29 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 3. Poirier placed 74th with a season-best time of 22:48 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 27. She placed 17th with a time of 23:44 (shortened course) at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 13. Poirier placed 39th with a time of 23:33 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 6. She placed 39th with a time of 23:58 at the Tri State Invitational on Sept. 29. Poirier placed 29th with a time of 24:11 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 22. She  placed 146th with a time of 25:51 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 15.

 

She is a secondary education major with a concentration in math and a 2007 graduate of Concord High School.

 

Junior Justyna Barlow (Foster, RI) placed 267th with a time of 28:36.3 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. She placed 206th with a time of 28:13.29 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 6. Barlow placed 99th with a season-best time of 23:57.30 at the N.E. Alliance Championship on Oct. 30. Barlow placed 17th with a time of 24:24 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 218th with a time of 24:19.31 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed 192nd with a time of 24:32 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Barlow placed 214th with a time of 26:37 the Cod Fish Bowl on Sept 25.

 

Junior Brittany Richer (Woonsocket, RI) placed fifth with a time of 21:37 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 56th with a time of 20:38.58 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed 47th with a time of 20:45 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Richer placed 109th with a time of 22:59 Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25. She placed 109th with a season-best time of 20:28 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18.

 

Junior Kayleigh Smith (Cumberland, RI) placed 117th with a time of 25:38.30 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Oct. 30. Smith placed 18th with a time of 24:28 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 222nd with a time of 24:25.45 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed 166th with a season-best time of 23:37 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Smith placed 201st with a time of 25:43 Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25. She placed 250th with a time of 24:14 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18.

 

 Freshman Chelsea Marshall (New Bedford, MA) placed 137th with a time of 25:40.1 at the NCAA N.E. Regional Championships on Nov. 13. Marshall placed 55th with a time of 24:47.20 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 6 . She came in 25th with a time of 20:56.80 at the N.E. Alliance Championship on Oct. 30.  Marshall came in fourth with a time of 21:24 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. She placed 54th with a season-best time of 20:35.13 at the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 9. She placed 43rd with a time of 20:43 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Oct. 2. Marshall placed 91st with a time of 22:22 at the Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25. She placed 182nd with a time of 21:34 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept 18. She was named the Little East Rookie of the Week three times on the season.

 

Freshman Meghan McMullen (Bristol, RI) placed 21st with a season-best time of 25:48 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 16. McMullen placed 213th with a time of 26:33 the Cod Fish Bowl on Sept. 25.
