Amado Wins 800m as RIC Opens Outdoor Campaign
Anchormen Place 10th Overall at Westfield State

Providence, RI-Freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI) won the 800m (2:01.18) and placed sixth in the long jump (5.98m) as the Rhode Island College menís track & field team opened up the outdoor portion of their season at Westfield Stateís Jerry Gravel Classic on Saturday afternoon.

 

RIC placed 10th (33.0) out of the 16-team field. American International won the meet (123.0).

Senior Mike Macedo (North Scituate, RI) placed second in the 10,000m (33:31.95).

Freshman Brandon Aikens (Lincoln, RI) placed 14th in the 100m (11.81), while sophomore Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) placed 12th in the 5,000m (16:00.77).

 

The 4x400m relay team comprised of Aikens and sophomores George NíTow (Providence, RI), Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) and Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed second (3:27.40).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, April 2.
