4x400m Relay Record Falls at Swanson Invitational

Middletown, CT-The Rhode Island College men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Elmer J. Swanson Invitational, hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

The 4x400m relay team set a new program record with its competition winning time of 3:22.91. The team was comprised of sophomore Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI), freshman Brandon Aikens (Cumberland, RI), sophomore Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) and freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI).

Aikens also had a successful day individually, winning the 100m (11.47). He placed fourth in the 200m (23.32). Amado also had a productive afternoon, including a victory in the 400m (49.42). He went on to finish third in the triple jump (13.16m) and sixth in the long jump (5.92m). 

 

Sophomore George N'Tow (Providence, RI) ran well in the sprints, earning a pair of second place finishes. He took second in both the 200m (22.82) and the 400m (50.01).

 

Freshman Michael Swift (Westerly, RI) finished fourth in the 100m (11.89). He also finished seventh in the 200m (23.49).

 

In the 800m, Stadnick finished third (2:00.16), Pena finished eighth (2:03.20, and sophomore Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) placed 11th (10:01.45).

 

Freshman Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) finished 15th in the 3,000m (10:01.45).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen return to competition at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday, April 23
