LEIGH TIES FOR FIRST AS RIC FINISHES
FOURTH AT HAMPTON INVITATIONAL

North Dartmouth, MA-Freshman Tim Leigh (Somerset, MA) tied for first overall among a field of 89 golfers as Rhode Island College finished fourth at the Hampton Inn Spring Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth at Allendale Country Club on April 9-10.

The Anchormen placed fourth (18 teams) with a two-day total of 653 (328, 325) and were +77 for the tournament. Salem State won the invitational with a score of 637 (316, 321). Husson was second at 644 (323, 321), while UMass Dartmouth was third at 647 (323, 324).

 

Leigh finished in a four-way tie for first overall. Worcester State's Bob Bruso won the four-way sudden death playoff on the first hole to capture medalist honors.

 

Sophomore Kyle Garcia (Rehoboth, MA) (80, 85) and senior Bryan Picinisco (Dartmouth, MA) (82, 83) tied for 21st overall with scores of 165. Both golfers were +21.

 

Sophomore Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, MA) tied for 34th with a score of 168 (89, 79; +24). Sophomore Brian Fitzgerald (Mansfield, MA) tied for 74th at 185 (94, 91; +41).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will compete at the Johnson & Wales Invitational on April 17-18.
