TSOUMAKAS NAMED LITTLE EAST
BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

 

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College freshman pitcher C.J. Tsoumakas (Hope, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week for his performance in two Anchormen wins last week.

 

 

 

Tsoumakas registered a 2-0 record with a 4.50 earned run average in two appearances. The rookie lefty allowed four runs on nine hits over the course of seven innings to pick up the win (13-5) over Worcester State on April 5. On Saturday April 9, Tsoumakas limited UMass Boston to just one earned run and four hits in three innings of relief to collect the victory (12-8) for the Anchormen.

 

 

 

For the season, he has appeared in five games, starting three of them. Tsoumakas is 2-1 with a 5.68 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 19.0 innings of work.

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulak’s team is currently 9-10 overall and 2-2 (second place tie) in the Little East Conference.
