RIC WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT IN, 9-0,
SHUTOUT AT UMASS BOSTON

Boston, Mass.-The Rhode Island College men's tennis team won its fifth straight match with a 9-0 victory over UMass Boston in a Little East Conference men's tennis match.

 

The Anchormen (7-3, 3-0 LEC) stay unbeaten in the Little East Conference and record their second shutout of the season. RIC has won six of its last seven matches.

 

Senior Nathan Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) and freshman Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI) teamed up in  No. 1 doubles play to defeat senior Himanshu Dubey (Lucknow, India) and freshman Seth Shavers (Hyde Park, MA), 8-3. Rebello would also defeat Shavers in No. 1 singles action (6-1, 6-3), while Werchadlo earned a No. 2 singles victory over junior T. Leng (Phnom Penh, Cambodia), 6-0, 6-0.

 

Junior Andrey Boguslavskiy was the only UMass Boston (1-7, 0-2 LEC) player to take a set off the Anchormen, falling 4-6, 6-2, (10-8) to freshman Brad Lamoureux (Pawtucket, RI) in No. 5 singles action.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference play at UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, April 19 (3 p.m.).
