MEN'S TENNIS KEEPS ROLLING IN, 7-2,
LITTLE EAST WIN OVER SALEM STATE

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College won for the seventh consecutive match, improving to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the Little East Conference, in a 7-2 victory over Salem State on Monday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Courts.

 

The Vikings drop to 1-8 overall and 1-3 in league action. It was Senior Day as Nate Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) and Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI) were honored along with their families prior to the match.

Rebello and freshman Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI) paired for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Aiello and rookie Kyle Kelaghan (East Greenwich, RI) followed suit with an 8-2 decision at the second doubles spot.

The Vikings pulled within one, 2-1, with a 9-8 (7-3) victory by Shawn Dowen and Eglis Bizhoti at No. 3 doubles.

 

 The Anchormen put the match away but taking No. 1-5 singles as Rebello, Werchadlo, Aiello, Kelaghan and sophomore Nate Lee (Bar Harbor, ME) all earned victories. All of the matches, except for Lee's, were decided in straight sets.

 

Joe Kim won the lone singles match for the visitors with a straight set victory at No. 5 singles.

 

 

 Aiello & Rebello were honored along with their families
on Senior Day prior to the start of the match.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at UMass Dartmouth tomorrow afternoon (3 p.m.)
