ANCHORWOMEN TAKE HOME NINE
HONORS AT ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fitchburg, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women's outdoor track & field team took home nine New England Alliance honors at the 2011 Alliance Championships, hosted by Fitchburg State on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen placed sixth (10 teams) in the Alliance with a score of 68.0 and fourth (six teams) in the Little East with a score of 79.0.

 

Senior Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events. She placed first with a new program record (1:04.49) in the 400m hurdles, fourth in the 100m hurdles (16.13) and second as part of the 4x400m relay (4:07.08). She also placed sixth as part of the 4x100m relay (52.33).

 

Freshman Jessica Graham (Wakefield, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events. She placed third with a new program record (3.05m) in the pole vault, fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:08.02) and second as part of the 4x400m relay (4:07.08). She also placed sixth as part of the 4x100m relay (52.33) and 15th in the preliminaries of the 100m hurdles (19.72).

 

Sophomore Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events. She placed first in the triple jump (11.11m), second in the long jump (5.27m) and second as part of the 4x400m relay (4:07.08). She also placed sixth as part of the 4x100m relay (52.33).

 

Senior Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in two events. She placed first in the 5,000m (18:42.76) and sixth in the 1,500m (4:56.64).

 

Freshman Natasha Miller (Wakefield, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors as part of the 4x400m (4:07.08), which placed second. She also placed 21st in the 200m (28.70), 21st in the 100m (13.89), 23rd in the long jump (4.43m) and sixth as part of the 4x100m relay (52.33).

 

 In upcoming action, select members of the team will compete at the N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by MIT on Saturday, May 7.
