LEVESQUE NAMED LITTLE EAST
BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, RI-Senior pitcher Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in a 2-1 week for the Anchormen.

 

Levesque batted .667 (10-for-15) with seven runs scored, 10 hits, a double, three homers and nine RBI to lead Rhode Island College on the week. He went 8-for-11 with three home runs and eight runs batted in on Friday, May 6 as the Anchormen swept a Little East Conference baseball doubleheader from Plymouth State. In the first game, Levesque also pitched seven innings, surrendered four earned runs, to go along with nine strikeouts to earn the win (4-5). Rhode Island College’s victory over the Panthers earned the Anchormen the sixth and final seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

For the season, he is batting .362 (51-for-141) with 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, a triple, eight homers and 47 RBI. He owns a .631 slugging percentage, a .395 on-base percentage and a .810 fielding percentage. As a pitcher, Levesque is 4-5 with a 5.67 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 60.1 innings pitched.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face top-seeded and tournament host Eastern Connecticut in the first game of the 2011 Little East Conference Baseball Tournament on Wednesday, May 11 (noon).
