KYLE ALLAIRE NAMED ALL-NEW ENGLAND

Providence, RI-Rhode Island College junior shortstop Kyle Allaire (Uxbridge, MA) was named Third Team All-New England by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA).

 

Allaire, who was also named First Team All-Little East Conference, has played in 39 games, starting 38 of them. Allaire is batting .404 (67-for-166) with 37 runs scored, 67 hits, six doubles, one home run, 28 RBI and 11 stolen bases. He owns a .458 slugging percentage, a .457 on-base percentage and a .930 fielding percentage. Allaire was also named the teamís MVP.

 

 

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulakís team is 20-18 overall and finished the regular season with a 6-8 (fifth place tie) in the Little East. The Anchormen earned an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament by winning the programís second Little East Conference Tournament (2005) with wins over Eastern Connecticut (6-4; 12 inn.), UMass Dartmouth (2-1), Keene State (3-2) and the Warriors once again (7-5) in the Championship Game.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face MIT on Wednesday, May 18 (9:30 a.m.) in the New England Regional of the NCAA Div. III Baseball Tournament, hosted by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, Mass.
