J.P. STONE NAMED TO NCAA BASEBALL
N.E. REGIONAL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Harwich, Mass.-Rhode Island College junior third baseman J.P. Stone (Narragansett, RI) was named to the NCAA Div. III Baseball New England Regional's All-Tournament Team.

 

Stone played in each of RIC's three games at the regional, batting .455 (5-for-11) with three runs scored and five RBI.

For the season, he played in 39 games, starting 36 of them. He batted .275 (38-for-138) with 25 runs scored, 38 hits, six doubles, one home run, 14 RBI and six stolen bases. He owned a .341 slugging percentage, a .365 on-base percentage and a .918 fielding percentage.

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulak's team finished the season with a 22-20 overall record and a 6-8 (fifth place tie) in the Little East Conference. RIC went 4-0 at the 2011 Little East Conference Championship to win the program's second tourney title (2005) and advance to the NCAA Championships. RIC went 1-2 at the New England Regional from May 18-20, picking up a 12-2 win over MIT, which was the program's first NCAA win in 31 years.
