Menís Outdoor Track & Field Season Summary

 

Providence, RIóHead Coach Kevin Jacksonís team wrapped up the 2011 menís outdoor track and field season with a tie for 35th overall (58 teams) and a score of 6.0 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships, hosted by Moravian on May 19-20.

 

The Anchormen tied for 10th overall (31 teams) with a score of 25.0 at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by MIT on May 7.

 

The Anchormen placed fifth in the Alliance (11 teams) with 74.0 points and third (six teams) in the Little East Conference with 94.0 points at the New England Alliance Championships, hosted by Fitchburg State on April 30.

 

 

 

Senior Mike Macedo (North Scituate, RI) placed 18th in the 10,000m with a season-best time (32:41.64) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 13-14. Macedo placed 11th in the 10,000m (32:54.86) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 7. He earned N.E. Alliance honors by placing second in the 10,000m (32:57.83) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 30, where he also placed 10th in the 5,000m (16:38.26). He placed 22nd in the 1,500m with a season-best time (4:24.81) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. He placed sixth in the 5,000m (16:09.13) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. Macedo finished third in the 5,000m with a season-best time (15:55.00) at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 2. He took second in the 10,000m (33:31.95) at the Jerry Gravel Classic on March 26.

 

As a junior in 2010, Macedo placed 11th in the 10,000m (33:15.86) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 1. Macedo earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 10,000m, placing fourth (33:39.48) at the Alliance Championships on April 24. Macedo placed first in the 10,000m with a season-best time of 33:10.61 at the Silfen Invitational on April 17. He placed seventh in the 1,500m with a season-best time of 4:19.60 at the Swanson Invitational on April 10. Macedo placed third in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 15:49.60 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 3. He placed second in the 10,000m (33:21.06) at the Jerry Gravel Classic on March 27.

 

As a sophomore in 2009, Macedo placed 21st in the 10,000m with a time of 34.30.26 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 2. He earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 10,000m, placing fourth with a time of 34:21.72 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 25. Macedo placed third in the 10,000m with a season-best time of 33:37.70 at the Silfen Invitational on April 18.  He placed seventh in the 3,000m with a season-best time of 9:41.51 at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. Macedo placed 13th in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 16:40.85 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. He placed fifth in the 10,000m with a time of 33:59.05 at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

As a freshman in 2008, Macedo placed 30th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 33:44.73 while at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 1-3. He earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 10,000 meters with a season-best third place (33:36.14) finish, while also placing 18th in the 5,000 meters (17:08.24) at the Alliance Championships on Apr. 26. Macedo placed first in 10,000 meters with a time of 34:17.97 at the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 19. He placed eighth in the 1,500 meters with a season-best time of 4:24.48 at the Swanson Invitational on Apr. 12. Macedo placed fifth in the 5,000 meters with a season-best time of 16:15.59 at the Coast Guard Invitational on Apr. 5. He placed third in both the 1,500 (4:29.81), and 5,000 meters (16:26.51) while at the RIC Invitational on Mar. 29. Macedo placed eighth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:23.36 at the Husky Spring Open on Mar. 22.

 

He is a psychology major with a minor in gerontology and a 2007 graduate of Ponaganset High School.

 

Junior Christopher DaLuz (Pawtucket, RI) placed 41st in the 200m (29.64) and 42nd in the 100m (14.46), both of which were season-best times, at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. DaLuz finished 19th in the 100m (14.74) and 29th in the 200m (29.89) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9.

 

Sophomore Conor McCloskey (Warwick, RI) placed 17th (3:22.20) as part of the 4x400m relay at the ECAC Championships on May 19-20. He placed 22nd in the 1,500m (4:10.25) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 7. McCloskey earned a pair of N.E. Alliance honors by placing fourth in the 1,500m (4:02.84) and seventh in the 800m (1:59.18), both of which were season-best times, at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 30. He finished third in the 1,500m (4:04.97) and sixth in the 800m (2:01.71) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. McCloskey placed fifth in the 5,000m with a season-best time (16:00.47) and 11th in the 800m (2:05.46) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. He won the 1,500m (4:04.36) at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 2. McCloskey placed 12th in the 5,000m (16:00.77) at the Jerry Gravel Classic on March 26.

 

Sophomore George N'Tow (Providence, RI) placed ninth in the 400m (49.60) and 17th (3:22.20) as part of the 4x400m relay at the ECAC Championships on May 19-20. He placed 13th in the 400m (49.35) and helped break the program record in the 4x400m relay with an eighth place finish (3:19.84) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 13-14. He earned All-New England honors in two events, placing fourth in the 400m (49.54) and second as part of the 4x400m relay (3:19.89), at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 7. N'Tow earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events, placing first in the 400m with a season-best time (49.18), fifth in the 200m (23.02) and first as part of the 4x400m relay (3:22.19) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 30. He also placed fourth as part of the 4x100m relay (44.02). He won both the 200m (23.33) and the 400m (50.06) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. N'Tow finished second in both the 200m with a season-best time (22.82) and the 400m (50.01) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. He helped establish a new program record in the 4x100m relay (43.68) with a third place finish and placed 11th in the 800m with a season-best time (2:01.52) at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 2.

 

Sophomore Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) helped break the program record in the 4x400m relay with an eighth place finish (3:19.84) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 13-14. Pena earned All-New England honors as part of the 4x400m relay team, which placed second (3:19.89) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 7. He earned N.E. Alliance honors with a first place finish as part of the 4x400m relay (3:22.19), while also finishing 11th in the 400m with a season-best time (51.36) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 30. Pena placed 17th in the 800m (2:04.23) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. He finished eighth in the 800m with a season-best time (2:03.20) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. Pena finished sixth in the 400m with a season-best time (51.69) at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on April 2. Pena placed 33rd in the 1,500m with a season-best time (4:23.71) at the Jerry Gravel Classic on March 26.

 

Sophomore Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed 17th (3:22.20) as part of the 4x400m relay at the ECAC Championships on May 19-20. He helped break the program record in the 4x400m relay with an eighth place finish (3:19.84) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 13-14. Stadnick earned All-New England honors as part of the 4x400m relay team, which placed second (3:19.89) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 7. Stadnick earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 800m with a third place finish and a season-best time (1:57.94) and first as part of the 4x400m relay (3:22.19) at the N.E. Alliance Championships at Fitchburg State on April 30. He finished second in the 800m (1:59.21) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. Stadnick finished third in the 800m (2:00.16) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9.  He finished 11th in the 1,500m with a season-best time (4:14.32) at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on April 2. Stadnick placed 13th in the 400m with a season-best time (52.54) at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted on March 26.

 

Freshman Brandon Aikens (Cumberland, RI) won the 100m (11.47) and placed fourth in the 200m (23.32), both of which were season-best times, at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. Aikens helped establish a new program record in the 4x100m relay (43.68) with a third-place effort, finished seventh in the 400m with a season-best time (51.75) and 10th in the 200m (23.72) at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on April 2.  He finished 14th in the 100m (11.81) at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted on March 26.

 

Freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Rookie Field Athlete of the Year and team MVP. This spring, Amado earned two All-ECAC honors, placing fifth in the 400m with a season-best time (48.98) and seventh in the triple jump (13.71), as well as placing 17th (3:22.20) as part of the 4x400m relay, at the ECAC Div. III Championships on May 19-20. He helped break the program record in the 4x400m relay with an eighth place finish (3:19.84), while also placing ninth in the triple jump (13.95m) and 14th in the 400m (49.54), at the N.E. Open Championships on May 13-14.

 

Amado earned All-New England honors in three events, placing second in the triple jump with a season-best effort (14.25m), fifth in the 400m (49.62) and second as part of the 4x400m (3:19.89) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 7.

 

He earned N.E. Alliance honors in five events by placing first in the triple jump (13.82m), first as part of the 4x400m relay (3:22.19), third in the 400m (49.50), fourth in the long jump with a season-best effort (6.42m) and sixth in the 800m with a season-best time (1:58.98) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 30.

 

Amado finished second in both the 400m (50.09) and the triple jump (13.14m), while placing fourth in the long jump (6.06m) and seventh in the 200m (23.96), at the Silfen Invitational on April 23.  He won the 400m (49.42), placed third in the triple jump (13.16m) and sixth in the long jump (5.92m) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. Amado helped establish a new program record with a third place finish in the 4x100m relay (43.68), finished third in the triple jump (13.23m), fourth in the long jump (6.23m) and eighth in the 200m with a season-best time (23.66) at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on April 2. He won the 800m (2:01.18) and placed sixth in the long jump (5.98m) at the Jerry Gravel Classic on March 26.

 

Freshman Tom DeCristofaro (Smithfield, RI) finished 20th in the 1,500m with a season-best time (4:34.28) at the N.E. Alliance Championships at on April 30.  He placed 36th in the 1,500m (4:39.17) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. He placed 14th in the 1,500m (4:37.68) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. DeCristofaro placed 50th in the 800m with a season-best time (2:18.16) at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on April 2. He finished 55th in the 1,500m (4:42.26) at the Jerry Gravel Classic on March 26.

 

Freshman Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) finished 17th in the 5,000m (17:09.83) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 30.  Richer placed 21st in the 5,000m with a season-best time (17:03.63) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23. He placed 15th in the 3,000m with a season-best time (10:01.45) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. Richer finished 35th in the 1,500m with a season-best time (4:29.73) at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on April 2. He finished 49th in the 1,500m (4:38.59) at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted on March 26.

 

Freshman Michael Swift (Westerly, RI) placed 16th in the 100m with a season-best time (11.63) and 20th in the 200m (24.22) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 30.  Swift finished 10th in the 200m (24.15) and 17th in the 100m (12.14) at the Silfen Invitational on April 23.  He finished fourth in the 100m (11.89) and seventh in the 200m with a season-best time (23.49) at the Swanson Invitational on April 9. Swift helped establish a new program record in the 4x100m relay (43.68) with a third place finish, while also placing 13th in the 100m (11.81) and 15th in the 200m (24.27), at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on April 2. Swift finished 20th in the 100m (11.98) at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted on March 26.
