LEVESQUE NAMED ALL-ECAC

Providence, RIóRhode Island College senior designated hitter Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI) was named Second Team All-ECAC for his performance in baseball this season.

 

He played in 41 games, starting 39 of them. Levesque batted .341 (58-for-170) with 32 runs scored, 58 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 49 RBI and one stolen base. He owned a .588 slugging percentage, a .470 on-base percentage and an .840 fielding percentage.

 

 

 

As a pitcher, Levesque appeared in 14 games, starting 12 of them. He was 5-6 with two saves, a 5.35 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 75.2 innings of work.

 

Levesque was named First Team All-Little East Conference as a DH and was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2011 Little East Conference Tournament.

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulak's team finished the season with a 22-20 overall record and a 6-8 (fifth place tie) in the Little East Conference. RIC went 4-0 at the 2011 Little East Conference Championship to win the program's second tourney title (2005) and advance to the NCAA Championships. RIC went 1-2 at the New England Regional from May 18-20, picking up a 12-2 win over MIT, which was the program's first NCAA win in 31 years.
