COROíS 23 POINTS HELP
 ANCHORWOMEN GROUND HAWKS

Providence, RI-Junior guard Stephanie Coro (North Providence, RI) totaled 23 points, six rebounds and two steals in just 24 minutes as the Rhode Island College womenís basketball team opened the 2010-11 season with an impressive, 95-34, blowout victory over visiting Albertus Magnus at The Murray Center.

The 95 points is the most scored by an Anchorwoman team in a game in 13 years. RIC previously defeated Plymouth State, 96-95, in overtime on Dec. 13, 1997. "It was great to get everyone involved and contributing," RIC Head Coach Marcus Reilly said.  "Both our starters and our bench stayed focused on each possession and that is not always easy based on the way the game played out."

RICís (1-0) defensive pressure was too much for the Hawks (0-1) as the Anchorwomen forced 34 turnovers, 21 of which were in the first half, and made 24 steals. Ten of the 11 players dressed for the Anchorwomen each had at least two points, grabbed at least one rebound and swiped one or more steals.

The Anchorwomen shot 53 percent (37-for-70) from the field and outrebounded the Hawks, 49-38. Albertus Magnus shot a mere 24 percent (14-for-59) for the game and made just two-of-20 from beyond the three-point line.

RIC junior forward Rachel Riley (Coventry, RI) posted a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Six of her boards were on the offensive glass.
