FOUR RECORDS FALL AS RIC OPENS SEASON
AT SPRINGFIELD INVITATIONAL

Springfield, Mass.-The Rhode Island College menís indoor track and field team opened the 2010-11 season at the Springfield Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Anchormen placed third (five teams) with a team score of 109. Springfield won the meet with a score of 189.

Four new program records were established at the meet. Sophomore Mike Harrell (Reston, VA) set a new mark (8.04) in the finals of the 55m hurdles with a first place finish.

He also teamed up with sophomore Michael Cole (Newport, RI), senior Kyle Duguay (Cumberland, RI) and freshman Brandon Aikens (Cumberland, RI) to break the school mark (1:35.72) in the 4x200m with a second place finish. Harrell placed third in the high jump (1.86m) as well.

Freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI) broke both the long jump record (6.64m)with a third place finish and the triple jump mark (13.90m) with a first place effort. He also  finished second in the 400m (52.28).

Duguay finished second in both the 55m (6.75) and 200m (23.78). Sophomore Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed second in the 800m (2:01.64).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 11.
