Carvalho Named First Team
All-New England

Providence, R.I.óRhode Island College senior defender Corey Carvalho (Dartmouth, MA) was named to the 2010 NSCAA/Performance Subaru First Team All-New England for his performance in menís soccer this season.

 

As a senior in 2010, Carvalho was named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Little East for the second consecutive season. He played in 19 games, starting 18 of them. Carvalho finished with two goals and one assist for five points. He scored the Anchormenís lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Coast Guard in the season-opener on Sept. 1, while netting the game-winner in the clubís, 1-0, win over Husson on Sept. 11. Carvalho and his defensive mates held their opponents to 86 fewer shots (283-197), while limiting scoring to just 18 goals against in 19 contests. He was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Defensive Player of the Week once on the season and team MVP.

 

 

 

Carvalho closed out his four-year career as an Anchorman, having played in 76 games, starting 70 of them. He totaled three goals and three assists for nine career points.

 

Head Coach John Melloís team finished the 2010 season with a 10-7-2 overall record and a 4-2-1 (third place) mark in the Little East Conference.
