Junior forward Rachel Riley (Coventry, RI) picked up her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds as RIC wins for the seventh time in eight games.

"Our halfcourt defense in the second half carried us to the win and that is the way it will have to be for us to achieve our goals in the Little East," RIC Head Coach Marcus Reilly said. "Offensively, we did a great job of taking what the defense was giving us and Coro highlighted that effort against Keene's zone."

The Anchorwomen stormed out of the gates and built a 25-5 lead with 8:32 left in the first half on a jumper by sophomore forward Courtney Burns (Rockland, MA). Keene State (4-7, 0-3 LEC) then outscored the hosts, 20-10, to go into halftime down by 10, 35-25.

RIC bounced right back with a 9-2 run to start the second half and held a double-digit lead for the rest of the game. The Owls trimmed their deficit down 12 points only three times in the second stanza, 44-32, at 13:44, 46-34, at 12:38 and then by the final margin. Keene State finished the game on a 13-0 run to make the final tally respectable.

Burns totaled eight points, five rebounds and a game-high four steals. Senior guard Lauren Harrington (Exeter, RI) posted seven points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals. Junior point guard Nicole Girard (Foster, RI) dished out a game-high six assists.

Keene State junior forward Courtney Cirillo (Windsor Locks, CT) led the way for the visitors with 12 points to go along with a game-high 17 rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Sara Laudano (North Haven, CT) was the only other Owl to reach double figures in points with 10.

The Anchorwomen shot a modest 25-of-66 for 38 percent from the field. Coro helped the three-point numbers as RIC made 8-of-21 (38 percent).

The Owls dominated the glass in a losing effort, holding a 51-32 advantage. KSC shot 18-of-53 for 34 percent from the field, which included 5-of-12 (42 percent) from downtown.

Turnovers were a key factor, as Keene State committed 24, helped by eight RIC steals. The Anchorwomen only turned the ball over eight times.
