AMADO LEADS RIC TRACK AT USM MEET

Gorham, ME--The Rhode Island College menís indoor track and field team competed at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring. RIC joined fellow visitor Colby College for a tri-meet with the hosting Huskies.

 

RIC individual competitors claimed a total of four first-place finishes. Freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI) headlined the results for the Anchormen with two event wins in the 600m (1:24.83) and the triple jump (13.68m). Amado also placed second in the long jump (6.14m).

Senior Kyle Duguay (Cumberland, RI) claimed victory in the 55m (6.72), narrowly edging teammate and freshman Brandon Aikens (Cumberland, RI), who finished second (6.74). Aikens won the 200m (23.00). Duguay also placed third (23.46) in the same event.

Aikens teamed up with Amado, sophomore George N'Tow (Providence, RI) and sophomore Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) to claim victory in the 4x400m relay (3:31.02).

 

In other action, N'Tow placed third in the 600m (1:26.00). Sophomore Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) finished third in the 1,000m (2:47.44).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume competition at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 15.
