DiBLASI & IBY LEAD RIC TRACK AT USM MEET

Gorham, ME--The Rhode Island College women’s indoor track and field team competed at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring. RIC joined fellow visitor Colby College for a tri-meet with the hosting Huskies.

 

RIC individual competitors claimed two first-place finishes. Senior Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) won the 600m (1:45.10). DiBlasi also was the top RIC finisher in the 55m hurdles, in which she finished fourth (9.35) and in the 200m, where she placed sixth (28.82).

Classmate Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) won the triple jump (10.24m). Iby paced RIC runners with her third-place finish in the 55m (8.2).  She also finished seventh in the 200m (29.19).

Freshman Jessica Graham (Wakefield, RI) finished third in the pole vault (2.61m). Graham also finished 10th in the preliminaries 55m hurdles (9.71).

Classmate Natasha Miller (Wakefield, RI) had the only other top-three finish for RIC, placing third in the long jump (4.08m). Miller finished fourth in the 55m (8.26) and eighth in the 200m (29.21).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume competition at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 15.
