AMADO, DUGUAY & N’TOW LEAD RIC AT
NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Springfield, Mass.—The Rhode Island College men's indoor track and field team saw three individual student-athletes and one relay team earn a total of five All-New England honors at the 2011 New England Division III Championships hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

 

As a team, the Anchormen placed 14th (25 teams) with a total of 18 points. MIT won the meet with 114.0 points.

 

 

 Freshman Craig Amado

 

            Freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI) was the top RIC performer on the day, earning a pair of individual All-New England honors. His top finish came in the 400m, where he placed second (50.69), while also placing eighth in the long jump (6.44m). Aside from his award-winners, Amado also turned in a ninth-place performance in the triple jump (13.26m).

 

 

 Senior Kyle Duguay

 

            Senior Kyle Duguay (Cumberland, RI) earned All-New England honors with his sixth-place finish in the 200m (23.32). He also placed 18th in the preliminaries of the 55m dash (6.83). 

 

            Sophomore George N’Tow (Providence, RI) was the third Anchorman to earn an individual All-New England honor, finishing eighth in the 400m (51.32).

            Amado, Duguay, N'Tow, and freshman Brandon Aikens (Cumberland, RI) teamed up to take home regional honors in the 4x400m relay, placing fourth (3:18.84).  Individually, Aikens finished 13th in the 200m (23.54) and 25th in the preliminaries of the 55m dash (6.92). 

 

            Rhode Island College sent two other competitors to the prestigious event.  Sophomore Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) finished 19th in the 600m (1:28.24) and sophomore Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed 20th in the 800m (2:02.61).

 

The Anchormen return to action next week when they travel to the New England Open Championships at Boston University on Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26.
